This page
will guide you through the steps needed to configure BackupStream
with your Router and Firewall.
1.) Click the start button
2.) Click Run
3.) Type cmd and click
OK
4.) Type ipconfig
5.) Write down IP Address
and Default Gateway
6.) Write down IP Address,
Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, and the DNS servers.
You will need some or all of this information
later.
Please Note: If using
BackupStream in a networked situation you will need
the specific IP address for each computer. Please
write down the IP Address of each networked computer
now. The Default Gateway will remain the same.
8.) The screen shots
to configure most popular routers for BackupStream
are available at PortForward.com
At PortForward.com please select your
router manufacturer and model. Once selected the
exact screens for your router configuration will
appear. If at all confusing we recommend printing
the pages for your router.
PLEASE NOTE:
If this paragraph appears, please do not skip
this step.
PLEASE NOTE:
Configuring your router for a static IP address
to service BackupStream partners does not affect
how your internet provider delivers your signal.
It may be static or dynamic, in either case your
computer operation will remain unaffected. This
is only to facilitate connection between BackupStream
partners that you select.
9.) Configure Your Router
Type your default gateway into your browser
bar and begin. Make sure to have the ip address
for your specific computer written down. Remember,
if using BackupStream on multiple computers each
computer must have a different IP address and
different port. Any port above 44488 will work.
