Partners, Add-Edit-Remove
In order to backup your data offsite you need to establish a Partnership with a remote Partner. You can establish as many Partnerships as you like with any computer(s) connected to the internet or your network. Your Partner(s) need to be running BackUpStream and give you permission to store your data on their computer.

From the Partners Main Screen you have three options; you can:

Add a new Partner
Edit an existing Partner
Remove a Partner

• You can control a Partner's ability to store data on your computer by allowing or disallowing the connection to your computer.

• Limit the amount of hard drive space you allow your Partner to have for storage of their files.

• Change the location of a Partner (for example, they may change from a shared network to a remote location)

• Change a shared password. (If you need to reload BackUpStream and forgot your password and your Partner couldn't remember either, just pick a new one. Make sure to compare fingerprints!!

• Partners can be removed. This is a very serious action and all previously stored data will be lost. Be sure this is an action you wish to pursue since it cannot be undone.

1) Select the Partners button from BackUpStream's Main Screen. The Partners Main Screen appears.

2) From this Screen you can quickly edit the connection privileges with existing Partners.

3) Select one of the task options to “Add a New Partner”, “Remove Partner” or “Edit Partner”.


Adding a New Partner
1) From the Partner Main Screen, select the Add a New Partner button.

2) The Partner ID Screen Appears.

3) Enter the Partner's BackUpStream ID and click “Next”. (Your Partner will find their ID in the upper left hand corner of their BackUpStream Main Screen.)

4) If you have entered a valid BackUpStream ID the Validation Screen will appear, click “Next”.

5) The “Partner Location Screen” will appear. Select your Partner's location and click “Next”.


Name your Partner

1) The “Name Your Partner Screen” will appear. Enter a name for your Partner, select which drive and how much space they may have access to for storing their data. The Partner will be doing the same for you when they add you to their BackUpStream. When finished click “Next”.


Passphrase Screen

2) The “Passphrase Screen” will appear. Both you and your Partner must enter the exact same phrase into this screen. A simple Passphrase would be the word “basketball”. The fingerprint is automatically created by the Passphrase and comparing your fingerprint with your Partner's is an easy way to confirm that you have both entered the same phrase. Click “Next”.


Partner Management

3) The “Partner Job Screen” will appear. If you have Jobs defined, you can choose now which Jobs to assign to this Partner. Click “Done”, you are finished.


Creating a Job

You can choose to Burn a CD Start disc for the “Initial Backup” to your remote Partner, or to backup the entire Job directly. Using CD Start is a much faster way to provide your Partner with the Initial Backup when storing large amounts of data. Click Here to learn more about CD Start.

By selecting “Edit Partner” from the main Partner screen, you can modify all Partner details.
